App sale fee calculator

Enter the price you expect for your app to see what you’d actually take home on each route: Flippa, Empire Flippers, Acquire.com, Microns, TrustMRR, a broker, or selling directly to me. Every fee comes from each platform’s own pricing page, checked September 2026.

Not sure? Use the app valuation calculator first.

Acquire.com reports an 81-day average on market.

Selling directly to me

$50,000

No listing fee, no commission. That’s up to $10,000 more than the other routes on this sale.

RouteSeller feesYou netYou keep
Enter a sale price.

Before escrow and tax. “Check” means the platform doesn’t publish a fee for that price. The same app won’t necessarily sell for the same price on every route, so compare net offers, not headline prices.

How does the app sale fee calculator work?

It applies each platform’s published seller fees to the price you enter:

RoutePublished seller fees
Selling directly to meNone: no listing fee, no commission
Flippa$49–$699 listing package + 10% success fee (published for $10K–$99.9K) (source)
Empire Flippers$10,000 up to ~$66,667; 15% up to $700K; 8% on $700K–$5M; 2.5% above $5M (source)
Acquire.com8% + $25/month under $250K; 7% + $50/month to $1M; 6% + $100/month above; escrow covered (source)
Microns10% from $1K, 8% from $10K, 6% from $100K; no listing fee; lists $1K–$1M (source)
TrustMRR1.5% (half of a 3% closing fee) + half the Escrow.com fee on its fees page; 4–6% + a $29 listing fee on its seller page (calculator shows both) (source)
Broker / M&A advisorUsually unpublished; FE International says “up to 15%” (source)

Checked September 2026. Flippa’s range is the cheapest to the most expensive listing package; the NDA add-on (+$199 on the two cheapest packages) isn’t included.

Why compare what you net instead of the price?

A $55,000 sale through Empire Flippers leaves you $45,000. A $50,000 direct offer leaves you $50,000. Headline prices hide the fees, the months of listing and the chance the app doesn’t sell at all. The full picture, route by route, is in direct buyer vs marketplaces and Flippa, Empire Flippers and Acquire.com fees.

A direct offer costs you nothing, arrives in days, and gives you a firm number: no listing, no auction, no fees. I buy iOS apps, and Android apps when the fit is right, in deals from $10K to $1M+.

Frequently asked questions

Which route leaves me the most money after fees?

At the same price, selling directly to a buyer, because there are no seller fees. Among marketplaces, TrustMRR quotes the lowest seller fee (1.5% on its fees page, 4–6% on its seller page). A direct offer also arrives in days, without months of listing or the risk that the app doesn’t sell. Compare net offers side by side in direct buyer vs marketplaces.

Does this include escrow fees?

No. Escrow usually adds about 1–3%, and who pays is agreed between buyer and seller. Acquire.com covers escrow; TrustMRR splits it 50/50. See app sale escrow.

Does this include taxes?

No. Tax on an app sale depends on where you live and how you own the app. Ask a local accountant before you sign.

How do I know what my app would sell for?

Start with the app valuation calculator (it checks your App Store listing and uses monthly profit, averaged over the last 3 months, plus a few questions) or read how much is my app worth.

How current are these fees?

Every fee comes from the platform’s own pricing page, checked September 2026. Fees change, so confirm them on the linked page before you list.
